Many are familiar with the way yoga postures use an outer experience to bring us inward; fewer know that chanting mantra works from the inside out. How? By using specific sound vibrations to alter our energetic frequency. With repetition, Sanskrit mantras focus our mind, balance our nervous system and brain waves, and make us receptive to meditation and transformation. This ancient spiritual practice has proven physical benefits: it lowers blood pressure; slows heart rates; lowers the release of stress hormones, and balances the hemisphers of the brain to promote alpha brain waves. In short, chanting mantra changes our minds. And as we think, so we become.
In this workshop, you will be introduced to the history, benefits and beliefs of mantras, and the traditional use of mala beads. You’ll have opportunities for experiential learning including chanting 108 rounds of the potent Maha Ganapati mantra for removing negativity and aligning auspicious beginnings. You’ll leave with Mala beads and instructions to begin your own home practice.
