What can broken pottery teach us about how we hold ourselves together?
It’s said that yogis bend so we don’t break. But let’s be real, the human experience involves moments of heartbreak, loss, regret and more. Whether we have been harmed, or caused harm, how do we find our way to feeling whole again?
This session uses the Japanese art of Kintsugi (mending by joining with gold) as a mindfulness practice with benefits similar to meditation.
First, we will break something (Yes!). We'‘ll get messy. As we file rough edges, our patience might be tested. We’ll observe how delicate balance can be, and that one person’s process may be different than another’s. But, as a former teacher told me, “the way we do anything, is the way we do everything.”
Through the reflective exercise of Kintsugi we may contemplate our relationship with our scars, with perfectionism, and the delicate, often fragile, process of repair. Along the way, we’ll meet the goddess Akhilandeshwari. Her name literally translates to "she who is never not broken.”
In the end, you may find that the Kintsugi experience demonstrates our individual and collective potential to become stronger for our brokenness; to see the beauty of change, and to understand that we ARE the GOLD.

Breath is the bridge between the seen and unseen, the conscious and subconscious. In this transformative session, you’ll be guided through circular breathing, a rhythmic, continuous breath practice that unlocks energy, clears emotional blockages, and invites deep states of clarity, release, and renewal.
Through breath, we access the body’s natural healing intelligence, dissolving tension, rewiring patterns of stress, and expanding our capacity for inner peace and vitality. This immersive journey will explore the power of circular breath and how it shifts energy within the body, offering techniques to regulate the nervous system and cultivate emotional balance. As the breath flows in a continuous cycle, it becomes a portal to altered states of awareness, deep relaxation, and profound release.
Guided breathwork will help dissolve stagnant energy, restore flow, and create space for renewal. The experience will be fully supported with grounding practices to integrate its effects. Many leave feeling lighter, clearer, and deeply connected to themselves, with a renewed sense of vitality. Emotional breakthroughs, profound relaxation, and expanded awareness are common.
This session is for anyone seeking release from stress, anxiety, or mental fog, a deeper connection to the body’s wisdom and intuition, and tools for emotional balance and energetic renewal. Whether you are new to breathwork or an experienced practitioner, this journey meets you where you are.
Breath is our most powerful and accessible tool for transformation. Circular breath awakens the body’s natural intelligence, creating space for healing, alignment, and the deep, nourishing reset we all crave.

In yogic philosophy, we are more than just the physical body; we are an intricate composition of five koshas, or layers of being, that shape our experience of the world. These koshas—physical, energetic, mental, intuitive, and bliss—are interconnected and interdependent, influencing our sense of balance, vitality, and overall well-being. When they are in harmony, we experience a profound state of equilibrium; when misaligned, we may feel stagnant, scattered, or disconnected.
Yet, the only constant in life is change. We are in a continuous dance between movement and stillness, breath and awareness, surrender and strength. In this immersive experience, we will explore the koshas through breathwork, blindfolded balance, jungle walking meditation, sound, and Yoga Nidra, inviting you to tune into each layer of your being with curiosity and presence.
Through this guided journey, you will:
• Engage the physical body (Annamaya Kosha) through grounding movement to establish awareness and connection
• Awaken the energetic body (Pranamaya Kosha) with breathwork practices that increase flow and vitality
• Observe the mental field (Manomaya Kosha), witnessing thought patterns and emotional landscapes
• Access intuitive knowing (Vijnanamaya Kosha) through blindfolded balance and sensory withdrawal
• Surrender to bliss (Anandamaya Kosha) with sound healing and Yoga Nidra, integrating deep relaxation and inner harmony
This workshop offers an inner recalibration, allowing you to move beyond habitual patterns and cultivate a sustainable sense of balance. As you journey from grounded awareness to deep intuitive listening, you will gain practical tools to maintain equilibrium in your daily life—even amidst the inevitable fluctuations of the outside world.
Many leave feeling more centered, lighter, and deeply connected to themselves. This practice is ideal for those who:
• Feel out of balance and crave a sense of stability and inner alignment
• Want to explore the deeper layers of their being beyond physical movement
• Seek practices that harmonize mind, body, and energy
• Are drawn to somatic exploration, breathwork, and meditative practices
True balance is not about standing still—it’s about learning to move with life rather than against it. This workshop invites you to attune to your natural rhythm, unlocking the harmony that already exists within.

FAQs
HOW DO I GET TO THE RETREAT?
Anamaya is located in Montezuma, Costa Rica. Upon confirmation and receipt of deposit, the host property and/or host yogi will make recommendations to guests upon request. Travel can be booked through your preferred carrier to San Jose, Costa Rica; then a brief Sansa flight will then get you to the Montezuma air strip.
WHAT CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT EXCURSIONS?
Excursions are curated with local providers, often ranging from surfing or horseback experiences to waterfall hiking or discovery activities removed from traditional tourism.
DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL TRAVEL DOCUMENTS?
If you are coming from the US, you only need a valid passport. A Visa is not required, nor are special vaccinations. However, for European travel, be aware of travel changes for Americas.
WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?
Because Retreat facilities require Santosha Retreats to book the retreat property in advance, all payments to Santosha are final. Anamaya will share it’s policies with you upon enrollment. We request that you secure your travel insurance early should something change that requires you to cancel.
IS TRAVEL INSURANCE RECOMMENDED?
Travel insurance is REQUIRED, particularly given that sales are final. We suggest AllianzTravel but there are a number of insurance companies. Costs will likely range from $125-$250.
